Idendification and charactrisation of genes with essential function for the development of schistosome females

Prof. Dr. Christian Grevelding
Institut für Parasitologie, Justus-Liebig-Universität, Gießen

Summary

The replication of schistosomes requires the development of the females, which depends on a pairing contact with the male. The project covers aproaches to isolate and characterize genes, which play essential roles for the differentiation of the reproductive organs of the female. Among other techniques we will use 2D gelelectrophoresis and MALDI-TOF analyses as well as yeast two-hybrid analyses to identify novel proteins, or binding partners of new or known molecules such as signalling proteins.
